IBJR – Instituto Brasileiro de Jogo Responsável

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

The Instituto Brasileiro de Jogo Responsável (IBJR) is closely monitoring the concerns expressed by the Federal Government and society regarding the advertising of fixed-odds betting. In this context, the Institute reaffirms its full support for initiatives aimed at investigating any substantiated practices that are not in compliance with current legislation.

The consolidation of a regulated, safe, and responsible betting market depends on the effective enforcement of the rules established by Law No. 14,790/2023, its implementing regulations, and the applicable oversight mechanisms. Whenever there is evidence of non-compliance, thorough investigations by the competent authorities are essential to preserve market integrity, protect consumers, and strengthen public confidence in the regulated environment.

In addition, the IBJR is continuously engaged in improving industry best practices. In partnership with CONAR (Brazil’s National Advertising Self-Regulation Council), the Institute participates in the ongoing review of advertising self-regulation standards and encourages its members to comply with the requirements established by law.

The regulated sector therefore positions itself as part of the solution. Authorized operators are subject to stringent legal and regulatory requirements and share with public authorities the goal of combating irregularities, enhancing consumer protection, and reducing the presence of illegal operators, which operate outside the law and provide no safeguards for consumers.

Finally, the IBJR remains available to the Federal Government and other relevant authorities to provide technical support in improving public policies and fostering a betting environment that is increasingly safe, responsible, and aligned with Brazil’s high regulatory standards.
