Sports Integrity
Integrity is a core and non-negotiable value for the Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR). Ensuring that sport remains a symbol of trust, fairness, and respect is a central commitment of the operators affiliated with the Institute.
Match-fixing and other illegal practices pose direct threats to both the operations of betting companies and the credibility of sporting competitions. That’s why Brazil’s leading betting operators, aligned with international standards already in place in mature markets such as the UK, Italy, and Spain, invest heavily in monitoring technologies and artificial intelligence to detect and prevent fraud.
- Atypical concentration of bets on specific events or outcomes;
- Sudden creation of multiple accounts with high betting volumes;
- Simultaneous bets placed across multiple platforms with abnormal behavior;
- Inconsistencies in user data, payment methods, and geolocation of bets;
- Discrepancies between players’ financial profiles and the amounts wagered.
When any of these red flags are triggered, the system issues an alert for further investigation. Operators then notify the relevant authorities and sports organizations, playing an active role in preventing fraud and protecting the integrity of competitions.
International Cooperation
IBJR-affiliated companies are also members of the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), the leading global organization dedicated to betting integrity. This collaborative network enables the exchange of real-time information among operators, regulators, and sports bodies, fostering a coordinated and effective response to any indication of match manipulation.

Suspected cases identified by operators are shared with the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), which conducts in-depth analyses. If strong evidence of fraud is found, the information is forwarded to sports authorities, who then coordinate the appropriate actions with investigative bodies.
Regulation and Strengthening of Integrity
The regulation of betting in Brazil has introduced important rules to strengthen sports integrity. Licensed operators are now required to implement monitoring systems and cooperate with both national and international integrity bodies.
Furthermore, regulation fosters a safer and more transparent environment by enforcing governance standards that deter illegal operators who act outside supervision and with no commitment to fair play.
The Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR) serves as a catalyst for best practices, promoting integrity as a core value among its members. Through knowledge sharing, technical support, and innovation, IBJR contributes to the development of a responsible, secure, and rules-based betting market in Brazil.
